stakeholders and funding

Model: A Team of community stakeholders assembles semiannually to maintain a STEM program and long-term funding streams; these individuals include STEM leadership Team, local business partners, and other STEM industry professionals.

HES STEM team and stakeholders including our members and advisers from the community meet monthly to discuss school wide STEM initiatives, necessary support and finances.

Our state and local budgets have seen cutbacks in recent years, but our partnerships with parents and the community help to make up for the shortfall. We receive $1000.00 annually from our Education Foundation business partner to support our STEM initiatives. We have also received donations to support our STEM efforts. School leadership meets monthly with our PTO to discuss the support of our STEM learning and recently they purchased a Chrome book cart for the  school year. The PTO is making long-term investments in technology and resources that can be used for years to come.

Teachers use Donors Choose to supplement necessary technology or supplies needed in their classroom and reach out to parents and community members for donations to support STEM units. Also, teachers research and apply for grants to support our efforts such as a recently awarded Rotary grant which will support the Biz World project in 5th grade and received a grant from NC Beautification for a farm to table project.

Park Ridge Hospital is the Lead Sponsor for the Henderson County Education Foundation School Sponsorship Program. This money will be use to support our STEM program.

Local sponsors donated which allowed our students to participate in Engineering for kids.
